More tales of our intrepid theatre making on tour with Mumford and Sons...We were told when arriving in Guthrie that the town was built in a day... So pulling together our ensemble in 5 days seemed comparably easy!As we explored the town, looking for local actors and costume, we learnt more and more about the history - from century old saloons, bullet holes in floor boards, and palatial masonic lodges, Guthrie has a rich history that would rival some of the most notorious of the wild west! The Hoboken coffee shop became a home away from home as we started the day the right way with Tray, Malory and baby Harvest. After auditions, we started rehearsals with a wide range of actors, from a local drama teacher to a couple of university of Oklahoma dance and theatre students, this was an eclectic and talented bunch. The site at the cotton fields in Guthrie provided the perfect environment for our actors. The expansive rural campsite was the playground for our actors, a band of scouts working on their storytelling and tent erecting badges. After a particularly fabulous don't ring the bell we were revving up back stage rearing to go with the paint fight!! A shout out from the Vaccines caused a ripple effect of excitement from the stage and we soon had a que of eager paint warriors queuing up to be involved. The actors were lead into the crowd by the local high school marching band drummers who set the pace of the fight. As the multicoloured dust cleared the sun set on another fantastic stop over - thank you Guthrie - we salute you!
